Topic: Special APS NSW Meeting
Time: Jul 15, 2020 07:00 PM Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney
Join from 7.00pm to chat with other members before the meeting. Meeting starts at 7.30pm prompt.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

Details: Originally scheduled as a normal Sutherland group meeting, we will be holding a Special General meeting to make an small amendment to the 2019 Annual Report and for which we need a minimum of 40 people for a quorum.

To encourage people to attend, we have lined up an excellent speaker for you to enjoy, after the short 10 minute preliminaries and vote.

Our speaker will be the very entertaining Professor Dieter Hochuli from Sydney university who will present a segment on the vital importance of insects in remnant bushland. Dieter is the Vice President of the Ecological Society of Australia and has several awards including the 2011 University Co-op Bookshop Excellence in Teaching. As Dieter says: "The simple facts are that the world is dominated by plants that seem to spend their life interacting in all manner of ways with the most speciose group of animals on the planet, insects.”

After questions, we will have a short plant table segment hosted by Dr Dan Clarke, the APS NSW Conservation officer. If you would like to participate in this segment, please email your plant photo(s) (with insects ????) to Dan before the meeting at: daniel@lykos.com.au

Finally, Kevin Collins from WA will be talking about his updated Banksia book. Kevin is a well know Banksia expert who many will know from his Banksia Farm at Mt Barker in WA where he houses the complete collection of Banksia’s and has co-written a book on the subject. Kevin is the current leader of the Banksia study group and involved with the Australian National Botanic Gardens in Canberra where he is helping to establish a new Banksia garden to celebrate the gardens’ 50th anniversary. Time permitting, you might be able to ask some Banksia related questions of Kevin.

Please note that for this meeting, you MUST pre-register, using the link above.

Notice of Extraordinary General Meeting, 7.30 to 7.35pm, 15 July 2020

We discovered a typographical error in our recent 2019 Annual Report. It understated our net equity position by $500. All the other numbers are correct. We are therefore holding an Extraordinary General Meeting to gain approval to amend the report. The Extraordinary General Meeting will be held just before a Sutherland meeting.

The Special Resolution proposed to be voted on is: to amend the 2019 2019 Annual Report to show the net equity position as $1,094,715.74 (instead of $1,094,215.74).

Here is the link to the amended Annual Report on the APS NSW website.
