Coffs Harbour District Group

Field trips

  • All day trips

We undertake regular field trips to explore native plants and new regions.

This group photo from 2013 was taken on a field trip led by member John Ross.

  • Overnight trips
The membership of individuals with knowledge and experience of organising and leading excursions further afield, provided two such opportunities recently. In 2014 geologist Morrie Duggan led the group pictured below on a 4 day trip to the Mt Kaputar National Park, near Narrabri, . It was a wonderful experience with many of us challenged both physically and botanically! Images of some of the beautiful plants in flower follow.

Fund raising

The annual fund raising Sausage Sizzle also provides an opportunity for one-on-one education and awareness-raising.

In 2018, our group will be monitoring selected local threatened or endangered species (from the NSW Environment Department's Saving Our Species register) by working with local National Parks regeneration projects around Moonee Beach, just north of Coffs Harbour. Once we have gained some experience in the techniques and methodology for data collection, we can extend our efforts to other species in our area.
